Vintlux’s Story

Many of Vintlux’s products are and will be made in England, which is where many started their lives. The designs from Vintlux is already proven and has stood the test of time. To obtain the quality Vintlux uses high quality materials and works with crafts people, engineers and manufacturers that all work in a hands on manner and understand the materials they are using.

The brand behind the icons

Vintlux is a company that is passionate about 20th Century design in lighting, both industrial and residential. Vintlux respects the quality of products produced in this period, when things were built to last. The amount of energy, materials and manual hours invested was unimportant; items were quality, well made and would last a lifetime and beyond. Vintlux products are now produced with the same enthusiasm but with respect for both the environment and the workforce.

"Vintlux searches through the decades for iconic and typical designs."

In the 20th Century the design and styling were new, exciting and in many ways revolutionary. The work place required only simple lines and objects that performed a function in a clean and uncluttered way. Vintlux searches through the decades for iconic, typical designs and interprets the best of them to fit with today’s lifestyle. Where possible and practical the original type of materials are for today’s products. If modern materials or processes can improve the product or the quality these will be used instead.

Discover the 1933 Collection

The Vintlux 1933 is a high quality hand-spun steel shade with a durable enamel finish inspired by the Coolicon, one of the most popular shades of the time. The vent at the top allows for ambient space lighting with directional light projected downward from the efficient, highly reflective enamelled interior.

This iconic design has been used throughout British industry, lighting workshops, factories, mills and farms. During the 1940s it was Government specified for many buildings and for hospitals at the introduction of the British National Health Service in the 1950s.

The original model was stamped out on metal presses, the two pieces then welded together. Now modern manufacturing processes allow the Vintlux 1933 shade to be spun in one piece with the vent being laser cut to give a much cleaner line. The opening at the top was designed to allow carbon filament lamps to release their heat and therefore extend their lifespan.
